Bummit is a charity hitch-hiking group that has been running for the past nine years. We are part of the University of Sheffield Union of Students and part of SheffieldRag.
It all started 8 years ago with some people from SheffieldRag hitch-hiking to Bognor Regis to raise money for local charities. The following year they ventured further afield to Budapest and Bummit has propelled ever since. This year, we are thrilled to reveal that we have our sights on SOFIA in BULGARIA.
The challenge is to hitch-hike across Europe in order to reach Sofia in 8 days. In additon, there shall be a mystery half way destination that will be revealed on the day of departure.
You are required to raise £200 miniumum sposorship to support SheffieldRag's worthy causes. 85% of the money raised shall support local charities in Sheffield and South Yorkshire, with the remaining 15% supporting charities further afield.

CONGRATULATIONS!
You are officially a Big Bummiteer and are probably slightly more than just a bit excited about next Easter.
BUT there are few things you will need to do first:
1) You will need to fill out and drop off three cheques at the Activities and Sports Zone desk in the Union by Monday 5th December. These are for:
- £75 (ticket price)
- 2 x £100 (sponsorship cheques)
Each applicant will have to pay a £75 registration fee which covers our administration costs, insurance, a party and one nights accommodation in both Sofia and the mystery halfway destination.You will also receive the fabled Bummit pack which includes your assorted goodies for the trip as well as the essential 'Bummit Bible'. The Bible will provide you with all the information you require durig the hitch - from hitch-hiking tips to language translations.
Additionally each applicant will, at the time of paying registration fees, also have to submit two cheques for £100 each to cover the sponsorship amount. These will only be cashed if you do not meet the required sponsorship by Wednesady 2nd May 2012.
2) Once you've done that you will have secured your place on the event and to celebrate our brilliant social sec has laid on an epic Big Bummit Social Extravaganza. Next Monday (5th) we will be heading to Population to make the most of the music, the cheap drinks and the opportunity for you all to meet your fellow bummiteers.
Tickets are only three quid and will be sale in the Zone on Weds, Thurs and Fri from 1pm to 4pm.
3) OR if drinking isn't your thing we are also having a private Ghost Tour of Sheffield City Centre next Tuesday Evening (6th). More details to follow.

DON'T WORRY! If you still want a place on Bummit 2012 you can join our reserve list and we'll contact you if a spot becomes avaliable on your chosen trip.
All you need to do is fill out the registration form in the same way you would if you were signing up.
- EHIC card (can be obtained post sign-up)
- Your doctor's details
- Details of your next of kin
- A housemate's name and number
- Your ucard number
